Out of Paradise Exhibit

Lunch and Gallery Talk

The Florence County Museum invites the public to attend a lunch hour artist talk at the FCM Waters Gallery, Friday, September 27, from noon to 1 pm.

Hartsville artist Jim Boden will be discussing his recent work and current exhibition, Out of Paradise.

The event will be catered and free to the public. Limited seating available.

“Boden’s paintings are full of personal symbolism,” said museum curator, Stephen W. Motte.  “Although there are frequent allusions to classical mythology and literature, the paintings are wholly contemporary.”

Boden recently served 17 years as faculty in the art department of Coker College, now Coker University. During this time his art came to use the human figure as a means of expressing complex cultural and political themes.

Refreshments will be served at 12, followed by the artist’s presentation from 12:15 – 12:45, concluding with a question and answer session, and an opportunity to meet the artist.
