VHS & Rainbows by Hollis Brown Thornton

There’s Still Time, an exhibition of works by Aiken artist, Hollis Brown Thornton, opens at the FCM Waters Gallery Thursday

There’s Still Time is an exhibition of paintings and contemporary mixed media works by native South Carolina artist Hollis Brown Thornton. His recent large scale drawings often examine the malleable nature of memory in both personal experience and popular culture.

Thornton received his BFA from the University of South Carolina, and has been working professionally since 2000. His work has been exhibited in France, Germany and Japan, and has appeared in Elle magazine and The New Yorker.

“Everything I do works with the balance between precision and the inherent limitations of making something by hand.” – Hollis Brown Thornton

An opening reception will be held at the Waters Gallery, 135 South Dargan Street, Thursday, August 9 at 6:00 pm. The public is invited.

The exhibition is open at the FCM Waters Gallery, August 9 – December 7. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm.
