Summer Studios is a unique summer program for children at the Florence County Museum. Each week-long session begins on Monday, focusing on a specific theme and ends on Friday. To register, please visit our website at flocomuseum.org/summer. Space is limited to 10 students per studio session, so sign up today!

For our shared health and safety, Summer Studios 2021 has been modified.

Your child’s health and safety are important to us. The following measures are in place to protect your students:

  • Registration is limited to 10 students.
  • All surfaces and supplies disinfected daily.
  • Staff will wear masks at all times.
  • Each student will have dedicated space and supplies, limited sharing.
  • Carline drop-off and pick-up only. Staff will be present to assist and receive your child.
  • Summer Studios to take place in larger Multipurpose Room space to accommodate social distancing.
  • No reception at the end of each week. Student work will be featured in a Virtual Exhibition hosted on the FCM Website.

The Science of Art
Ages 5-10
June 14-18, 2021
Monday-Friday, 9 am-12 pm

Explore the intersection of Science and Art in this multidisciplinary camp. Students will participate in exciting hands-on activities that blend subject areas with unique results. Activities include engineered sculptures, participating in science experiments with an artistic outcome, and applying math and technology to plan and create works of art.

Terrific Textiles
Ages 8-12
June 28-July 2, 2021
Monday-Friday, 9 am-12 pm

Create with cloth using dyes, printmaking, weaving and more! Students will dive in to textile art by exploring cloth-making methods, indigo and natural plant dyes, and surface design. Each student will design their own t-shirt combining printmaking and dyeing, explore the science of creating dyes, and practice traditional ways to make textiles into works of art.

Crazy for Clay
Ages 5-10
July 12-16, 2021
Monday-Friday, 9 am-12 pm

Get your hands dirty working with clay! Students will learn the start-to-finish process of making ceramic art, create unique works of three-dimensional art with various types of clay, explore surface design techniques, and glaze bisque-fired clay.

Super Sculptures
Ages 8-12
July 26-30, 2021
Monday-Friday, 9 am-12 pm
$150
10 Student Maximum

Explore art in three dimensions! Students will use a variety of materials to explore additive and subtractive sculpture processes. Each student will create kinetic (or moving), cast, carved and relief sculptures that explore the use of positive and negative space.
