Join us on Saturday, 7/11, from 1pm to 3pm for Family Day – America’s 250th Birthday. Let’s celebrate our country’s semiquincentennial in bright, bold colors and create your own “fireworks” using scratch art techniques. Observe the process of indigo dyeing, a West African tradition. Discover how this small plant left a big impact on South Carolina. You’ll also learn about notable South Carolinians like Francis Marion (The Swamp Fox), Thomas Sumter (The Fighting Gamecock), & Andrew Pickens (The Wizard Owl) and make masks inspired by these historic figures who were instrumental in the American Revolution of 1776.
Special Guest: SC250’s Jeff Murrie! Explore hands-on artifacts and stories from South Carolina’s past with SC250’s interactive History Trunk experience. Discover what life was like during the Revolutionary era and connect with the people who shaped our state and nation.
The event is free (no registration required).
