We look forward to seeing you at the Florence County Museum. The museum can safely accommodate adult tours up to 30 participants and student tours up to 30 to 60 participants, depending on the tour. Student tours are offered between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Tuesday through Fridays. Tours and activities are aligned with South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards and Objectives. Each tour includes a writing prompt based on SC ELA Standards to complete at home or in the classroom following your visit.

All tours are offered free of charge and require a minimum of 10 students.

Become a dendrochronologist for a day and design a tree ring based on your life.

Fantastic Fossils (3rd grade)

Dig deep into how fossils are formed and create one in the museum's classroom to take home.

Colonial Pee Dee (4th grade)

Think about what life was like during the colonial times in the Pee Dee and make your own artifact to keep.

Civil Rights & Photography (5th grade)

Learn more about the roles various individuals, including photographers, played during the Civil Rights Movement.

Native Americans of the Pee Dee (7th grade)

Look closely at historical artifacts and create your own coil pot using clay.

Civil Rights & Photography (8th grade)

See images captured by Civil Rights photographer Cecil Williams, tour the Pee Dee History Gallery, and build your own pinhole camera.

Art & Observation (high school)

Engage in art viewing strategies while increasing your observations and drawing skills.

Identify key moments and events through examples in the Pee Dee Region's history.

World Language Gallery Visit (K-12)

This authorization extends to all languages, media, formats and markets now known or later discovered. This authorization shall continue indefinitely, unless I, the signee, otherwise revoke this authorization in writing. I waive the right to inspect or approve any finished product in which my likeness appears, including written or electronic copy. It is the responsibility of the teachers and/or chaperones to notify the staff of the Florence County Museum in the case that any particular child(ren) is/are not allowed to be photographed per the school’s or organization’s consent forms.
