Street Garden

Within the bold and expressive work of contemporary South Carolina artist Liz Rundorff Smith, lie quiet and subtle meanings. Although her compositions are abstract, their colors, textures, patterns and shapes combine to suggest things that are familiar, yet just out of reach - their deceptively formal simplicity conveying ideas of nostalgia, loss, and the imperfection of memory.

Smith is the recipient of the 2022 Solo Exhibition Award, granted in collaboration with the Florence County Museum and Florence Regional Arts Alliance. She is a graduate of the College of Wooster and the University of Edinboro, continuing her studies in Europe before returning to receive residencies and fellowships in the United States. She is currently Director of Programs at the Center for Creative Arts in Greenville, SC.

Liz Rundorff Smith: Street Garden will be on view in the FCM Waters Gallery from April 25 through August 5, 2022.

Join us at the FCM Waters Gallery for a Public Reception from 6 - 8 pm on the evening of Thursday, May 19.
