Slow Art Day – Guided Conversation

On average, museumgoers tend to view objects for under 30 seconds. Some say 7 seconds is the most time a viewer will spend looking at a painting. How long does 30 seconds feel like? What about 5 minutes? How does the time we spend looking at something, influence our observation?

Join us for a guided experience & conversation at 2 pm highlighting the art of slow looking and observation with Curator of Education, Uschi Jeffcoat in the Focus Gallery. We’ll be experiencing the art of Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice. Register using the button below.

Allow yourself uninterrupted time with a work of art. Use your guide to reflect on your observations either individually, through journal writing response or with your own learning community. Invite friends and family to join a conversation on what you discovered and noticed.
