The general public is invited to join us Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for refreshements and a lecture from our Curator of Interpretations & Collections, Stephen W. Motte, on the paintings of William Henry Johnson featured in Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice. Attendees will learn about Johnson’s world in the 1940s, the history behind many of the figures Johnson chose to portray, and how the Fighters for Freedom series represents the culmination of Johnson’s work as an artist.
The lecture will begin at 5:45 pm. The event is free and open to the public (no registration required).
