Student Volunteer Program
Student volunteers assist leaders of the Summer Studios programming for students ages 5-12. The FCM will provide documentation of volunteer hours to school program departments upon request.
The Florence County Museum is currently offering summer student volunteer opportunities in the Education Department. Student volunteers will assist leaders of the Imagination Ball and Summer Studios programming for students ages 5-12. The FCM will provide documentation of volunteer hours to school program departments upon request.

The Student Volunteer Program at the Florence County Museum is open to current middle school IB students and high school students. If you meet this basic criteria, and would like to volunteer, please fill out the online application using the link below.

2017 Imagination Ball
On Friday, April 28, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm, the Florence County Museum will host an Imagination Ball, a costumed family event. Come enjoy a catered evening of art projects, clay sculpture making, dinosaur storytelling, adult and children’s costume contest, face painting, caricature drawing, selfie photo station, and more.
2017 Summer Studios Schedule
June 12-16, 2017
Take a leap into the past! Students will travel back in time, exploring the museum to learn about different periods in art history, experiencing life and creating artwork from a different time period each day.
June 19-23, 2017
Become an archeologist! Explore the early history of the Pee Dee region through exciting hands-on activities. Students will create fossils, participate in mock excavations and learn about the people that have inhabited our area over time.
June 26-30, 2017
You’re the director as you learn the art of Stop-Motion Animation. Students will write their own film script, design sets and characters, photograph and produce a stop-motion animated film.
July 10-14, 2017
Art is so much more that just paint on paper! Using a variety of art materials (some quite unusual), students will learn to combine media to create contemporary, vibrant works of art inspired by artworks found in the museum’s galleries.
July 17-21, 2017
Experience the many cultures represented in the collections at the Florence County Museum. Students will explore cultures close to home and around the world while creating artwork inspired by them.
July 24-28, 2017
The magic of printmaking combined with the art of bookbinding is sure to offer an engaging week of creative exploration. Students will learn a variety of printmaking techniques that can be used to make beautiful and functional books. Explore screen-printing, paper marbling, pop-up books and more!
