Saturday, September 23, 2017: Evidence: Begin The Work
Instructor: Terry Jarrard-Dimond
Professional Artist

This hands-on workshop explores ways to discover and develop new ideas and directions for your work. Working with the elements of chance and intention, we will create three studies using paper, fabric and india ink. The information generated by these exercises is very open and can be incorporated into many different types of artistic practice. All skill levels welcome.

 

Saturday, October 21, 2017: Analog Meets Digital
Instructor: Julie Mixon
Professor of Photography, Francis Marion University

Analog meets digital in this hands-on photography workshop. Participants will create their own one of a kind cyanotype prints using the sun. The cyanotype process dates back to the mid 1800s and is loved for its brilliant Prussian blue color. Digital methods will be introduced by creating digital inkjet negatives and by using a Purell Hand Sanitizer image transfer process to layer color onto the cyanotype print. All skill levels welcome.

Explore the art of Block Printmaking with this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn the block printmaking process from start to finish: including image design and transfer, linoleum and rubber block carving, inking, and printing on paper and fabric. Bring your design ideas and creativity! All skill levels welcome.
