Summer Studios is a unique summer program for children at the Florence County Museum. Each week-long studio begins on Monday focusing on a specific theme and ends each Friday with an exhibit of student work along with a reception for families and friends. Learn more below!

Take a leap into the past! Students will travel back in time, exploring the museum to learn about different periods in art history, experiencing life and creating artwork from a different time period each day.

Become an archeologist! Explore the early history of the Pee Dee region through exciting hands-on activities. Students will create fossils, participate in mock excavations and learn about the people that have inhabited our area over time.

You’re the director as you learn the art of Stop-Motion Animation. Students will write their own film script, design sets and characters, photograph and produce a stop-motion animated film.

Art is so much more that just paint on paper! Using a variety of art materials (some quite unusual), students will learn to combine media to create contemporary, vibrant works of art inspired by artworks found in the museum’s galleries.

Experience the many cultures represented in the collections at the Florence County Museum. Students will explore cultures close to home and around the world while creating artwork inspired by them.

The magic of printmaking combined with the art of bookbinding is sure to offer an engaging week of creative exploration. Students will learn a variety of printmaking techniques that can be used to make beautiful and functional books. Explore screen-printing, paper marbling, pop-up books and more!

The week ends each Friday with an exhibit of student work along with a reception for family and friends. Each week’s studio will take place Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 12:00pm. Each studio costs $150.
